Ismail Sabri Support UMNO youth's action #scs14 #DSIS @NajibRazak

Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the protesters, who clashed with police during yesterday's rally in the city, were merely reacting to DAP lawmaker Nga Kor Ming’s Hari Raya greetings on Facebook that he termed as insulting.

"And the Umno Youth members were merely carrying out their responsibility to defend the pride of the Malays and of Islam that were insulted by Nga Kor Ming.

"Yesterday was an example of their reacting to his statement. It is their duty to defend the integrity and the dignity of the Malays who were insulted," he said.

He also cautioned other politicians against making such controversial statements, even in jest, as it could affect the sensitivities of Malaysians.

“I hope after this there will be no more incidents like this.  All leaders, opposition politicians and such have to be careful when issuing statements.

If they want Umno dead, we also want them dead,” #scs14 @NajibRazak

A group of Umno Youth members caused a commotion when it attempted to breach a police barricade in front of the DAP headquarters here to protest against its Perak chairman Nga Kor Ming.

Led by Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Razlan Rafii, the group demanded that the Taiping MP apologise for his remark which allegedly insulted the Malays and Islam.

The stand-off with the light strike force lasted for half an hour until the police allowed several of the leaders to meet with a representative from DAP.

Controversial ex-soldier Mohd Ali Baharom, also known as Ali Tinju, who was also spotted in the crowd, was taken away by police for trespassing into the DAP premises

Razlan, in his speech, accused Nga of insulting the Malays with a series of “insensitive” Facebook postings during Hari Raya, the latest purportedly equating duit raya (cash gifts) to dedak(chicken feed).

“We demand that he make a public apology to all Muslims because his provocation has hurt the feelings of the Muslims and the Malays.”

"Upgrade Sekinchan's market", Budiman first order #scs @NajibRazak @budimanmohdzohdi

After his thumping victory was announced late last night, the newly-minted Sungai Besar member of parliament wasted no time in oiling his machinery to work on his first task. To fulfill one of his promises, Budiman visited the Sekinchan Public Market early today, giving an assurance that his priority was to upgrade the market for the comfort of traders, and attract more visitors in the future. He said the move was in line with the mandate given by the people in the by-election yesterday, to continue fighting for their rights and demands.

According to Budiman, a survey of the public market shows as if the DAP elected representative for Sekinchan did not care about the old and dilapidated condition of the market’s facilities. “I am very sympathetic to the situation of the public market, where during the three terms under the auspices of the DAP, the drains are poorly maintained, floors not washed, and even the lighting looks gloomy.

"The market is very important to the locals, because it is also a place for the people from around Tanjong Karang to buy their daily items,” he told reporters here today. Budiman said although Sekinchan was known as a DAP stronghold, efforts to upgrade and refurbish the public market there was not related to political affiliation, and he was doing it out of his obligation as the MP of the constituency. Thus, he said, he would try hard to get the budget from the federal government to keep his promise although it would have to go through several procedures first.

Meanwhile, commenting on the increase in Chinese support for him, Budiman smiled and said it was a clear message that they were smart to choose a moderate leader, who understood local issues in depth. “To me, the Chinese must also be approached, but we have to be smart and use the appropriate methods, but I treat all people regardless of race, equally. “I accept the support from them (the Chinese) with an open heart, and I will strive to give the best possible service,” he added. In the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election yesterday, Budiman as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate garnered 16,800 votes, beating PAN candidate Azhar Abdul Shukur (7,609 votes) and PAS Dr Abdul Rani Osman (6,902 votes).

PAN admitted put up provocative billboard. #scs93 #prkSgBesar @NajibRazak

PAN said that it was their Pakatan Harapan ally, DAP, which had crafted the inflammatory campaign billboards in Sekinchan town. PAN communications director Khalid Samad said they were kept in the dark over the matter before finding out it was DAP that had erected the billboards on Wednesday. Khalid said he had spoken to Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua to clarify matters.
"Tony (Pua) explained that this was a situation where the Chinese community in particular have bottled up their feelings because of what Jamal (Sungai Besar Umno chief Datuk Jamal Yunos) had said about them. "They are disappointed that Jamal had not retracted his hurtful racial statements and had not apologised to the Chinese community.

Those were the bottled up feelings that they needed to express (through the billboards). "We have discussed and agreed that we would not put up billboards like that as it can be provocative and should not happen anymore. We will have closer coordination between us to ensure that the messages on Pakatan Harapan billboards are the same," said Khalid.

Police tore down six billboards with messages targeting Barisan Nasional and Pas leaders afer receiving a report from the public.

Nurul Izzah admits it's not easy to win Sg Besar #scs93 #prkSgBesar @NajibRazak

PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar has admitted that Pakatan Harapan will have a tough time reaching out to voters to win in the Sungai Besar by-election on June 18.

Nurul Izzah who was met while campaigning for Amanah candidate at Sungai Besar main market here today,  has admitted it was not going to be easy to win in the three-corner fight and Pakatan Harapan machinery would have to work hard to influence voters in the area. “We must understand that it is difficult for a new political party to penetrate the market because the Malaysian political system is based on first-past-the-post (FPTP) not on a system of proportional representation and on top of that the mainstream media is not helping. “Due to that, apart from selecting a local candidate, we have to work very hard and wear the PAN shirts to introduce the candidate’s logo.

The FPTP system which has been used in the country since the first elections in 1959 recognises the winning candidate as the candidate who gets the most votes, even by only one vote. Proportional representation on the other hand is an electoral system in which parties gain seats in proportion to the number of votes cast for them as practiced widely in most European countries.

According to Nurul Izzah, Pakatan Harapan would be more sensitive in the campaign during this fasting month especially after its DAP ally put up the provocative billboards around Sekinchan town

A Big "NO" to topple Najib Razak by Hadi #scs93 #prkSgBesar @NajibRazak

President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang admitted that former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad met him 3 months ago to discuss a plan to topple Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Abdul Hadi, however, said he rejected the offer as he regarded it would not be beneficial to him or the party. “PAS does not oppose any individual..does not oppose a person but (oppose) the concept and policy. If a person is changed but the policy and approach are the same, nothing changes,” he told reporters during a walkabout at the Sekinchan Town Ramadan bazaar, here, today.

On Tun Mahathir’s claim that he (Abdul Hadi) ate Najib’s bran (dedak), the PAS president cynically asked who first started teaching the giving of bran prior to this? “Because PAS does not eat bran, it can continue the struggle without money politics, BR1M politics, who taught (them)? “As long as the approach is not changed, behaviour is not changed, the matter will continue to happen,” he said.

Budiman set strategy for Sg Besar local people #scs93 #prkSgBesar @NajibRazak

The BN candidate for the Sungai Besar parliamentary by-election, Budiman Mohd Zohdi, will focus on improving access to education and the economic status of the people if he is elected.

Budiman said the two factors could serve as catalysts in the development of the constituency with its spectacular lush green padi fields and village life that are so appealing to local and foreign tourists.

"We in Sungai Besar do not require a huge shopping mall, we do not want to change the landscape, let the atmosphere of the village be maintained.

"But we do want the people to have wide knowledge, to be able at the same to think and generate income from existing resources," say Budiman

" They fail to be united, how to give them the task of developing Malaysia?," #scs93 #prkSgBesar @NajibRazak

Communications and Multimedia Minister Salleh Said Keruak today cites dispute in the Selangor government as prove of disarray in the federal opposition pact.

Salleh told voters in Sungai Besar today the dispute also shows Pakatan Harapan is not fit to rule Putrajaya.

"The opposition (parties) are fighting among themselves. They are in a government together but they cannot be united in elections.

"Even though they are small, they fail to be united, how to give them the task of developing Malaysia?," he says during a breaking of fast event.

Salleh cites ongoing problems that Selangor Mentri Besar Azmin Ali is facing with his cabinet - with both PKR and PAS representatives - spilling over in both Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.

"Look at the Selangor MB, he has problems with his own cabinet. His cabinet has PAS, PKR and DAP. Even though it is a small group, they can't manage their own house.

"I have never seen in the world where a cabinet sits together but fights each other during elections," Salleh says.
